From Road & Track

Back in the late 1980s, Jaguar was on top of its game. It won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and achieved many outright victories in the World Sportscar Championship. Banking on its success, Jaguar decided to build a track-ready, race car-based supercar for the road, and sell it to customers. That car was the XJR-15.

The XJR-15 was an ultra-exotic, extremely exclusive road car based heavily on the successful XJR-9 and XJR-12 Group C cars. It used the same carbon fiber monocoque, suspension, AP Racing brakes, and 450-horsepower V12 engine, but with a more subdued look and a relatively livable interior.

According to Jaguar, the XJR-15 was built specifically to compete in the Jaguar Sport Intercontinental Challenege. It was a support event held three times a year for Formula One, and featured 16 identical cars in the grid. It didn't last very long, and people eventually forgot about the 53 examples of the '90s supercar Jaguar built.

One road-going example-painted in a gorgeous blue-just popped up for sale on Classic Driver in the U.K. with an asking price of just around half a million dollars. Considering its exclusivity and relative unknown status among the car community, it could be the perfect car to own for those wanting something different.
