It Only Takes $2.7 Million to Buy this Street-Legal Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR

From Road & Track

Last week, we showed you a street-legal McLaren P1 GTR that's up for sale. It looks incredibly cool, but at more than $4 million, it's also far from affordable. But if you have your heart set on owning a street-legal race car, perhaps this less-expensive Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR will fit your budget.

Listed on James Edition and currently for sale in Germany, this 1999 CLK GTR is one of 25 road cars ever built. And it truly is a race car you can drive on the street. Originally, the CLK GTR was developed to compete in the FIA GT Championship. In street form, it had a 6.9-liter V12 that made 612 bhp and 568 lb.-ft. For the late 1990s, that was an incredible amount of power.

The listing itself doesn't offer many details other than saying it has 1802 miles on the odometer. It does, however, look incredibly clean and in great condition. Plus, we're sure the dealership would be happy to answer any questions potential buyers have before they fly in to take a look in person.

We've seen a few CLK GTRs for sale in the past few years, but it's still a big deal every time one comes up for sale. And considering it's more than doubled in value since it originally went on sale, if you can afford it, you probably want to buy one now before they get even pricier.
