Opel Will Launch Seven New Models In 2017

From Road & Track

Ever wondered what GM does in Europe?

Well, they make Opels, which they start calling Vauxhalls as soon as the steering wheel gets bolted on the wrong side (or Holdens if they go to the land down under). Opel is also the only carmaker in history that managed to name its least significant car after its founding father. But while the Opel Adam might not be much more than a Fiat 500 wannabe, Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann has some good news for Opel fans after all.

Starting with the new Insignia, the car known in America as the Buick Regal. Opel's new flagship is 385 lbs. lighter than the old one, and the Grand Sport will be followed by a wagon and a lifted crossover soon.

And since everybody is so "urban adventurous" nowadays, two compact CUVs will follow that lifted wagon, staring with something the call the Crossland X. Europeans will also get the Mokka X, while the Chevy Bolt gets to the old continent as the Ampera-e, with a range of up to 310 miles.

Delivery men should also be happy to learn that Opel's commercial champion, the Vivaro van is also ready to be replaced with a shiny new one. So, that's Opel's 7 for 2017. Expect a lot more to come until 2020.
