The Porsche 911R is arguably the best 911 currently in existence. Its 500-horspower naturally-aspirated flat-six, six-speed manual transmission, and fantastic driving characteristics make for a dream combo that not many new cars have. But, it's not really that much better than an old French hatchback on the road, according to Chris Harris, anyway.

The Top Gear host decided to test a brand new 911R against his personal 1991 Peugeot 205 Rallye on some British B-roads to see if the $185,000-Porsche was actually more enjoyable to wheel around than a reasonably priced, simple, fun-to-drive hot hatch.

Harris finds the sheer fun the Peugeot provides outmatches the comparatively big, heavy, stiff Porsche on normal driving roads. Plus, the 911's outrageous power makes it hard to wind out and really enjoy to the fullest on the street.

But that's only a small part of Harris's argument. Watch the full video for yourself to see why you should be scouring European car listing sites for old Peugeots instead of new 911s.
