Photo Gallery: Macchinissima Is Molto Bene
Mike Baum and friends liked the idea of the Luftgekuhlt car shows for old Porsches and wanted something similar to celebrate Italian cars. So they created Macchinissima, a car show that welcomes all kinds of cool old Italian cars, from million-dollar Alfa 6Cs to the lowly and ubiquitous Lancia Appia. It was molto bene.
This Lancia 6C has been on many, many rallies in the Western United States, from the California Mille to the Colorado Grand.
The Lancia Appia is the most affordable of all collectible Italian cars. This one is in great shape.
Open those doors and you'll see there is no B-pillar on the Appia.

Lancia B20s like this raced at Le Mans with this chopped roof, all the better for aerodynamics. A company in the UK offers retrofits of that shopped roof, and this Lancia Aurelia B20GT is one such car. So cool. If I had a half a million bucks why I'd...

Mike Baum says: The impossibly cute Michelotti (Fiat) Shellette. Built around the Fiat 850 as a beach town/ resort vehicle with wicker chairs and wicker dash (!). Initiated by yacht designer Schell and Giovanni Michelotti, who designed the car, 80 are supposed to have been built.
The original plan was to have "Italian disco" played on speakers. Surely this is better, no?

Here is the window from which an entitled yuppie threw eggs at the car show below, upset as they were for having their car towed.
Maserati Ghibli Spyder owner and friends rolled with it, cleaned the egg off, and reparked the Maser out of range.
