Whenever Volvo is asked about its performance brand, the company talks about "having huge plans with Polestar" without going into specifics. Now, Evo reports that the blue team will go all AMG, meaning that they'll move towards developing their own models instead of just beefing up regular Volvos. What's more, their first unique product could be an electric sports car.

There are a number of reasons why this makes sense. We know that Volvo will launch its first electric car in 2019, which will be based on their compact platform and built exclusively in China. The company is also working on a larger, SPA platform based electric model and the hybridization of the entire range, while Polestar claims the days of their non-hybrid performance models are numbered.
