The New Porsche 911 GT2 RS Has a Simply Gargantuan Wing

From Road & Track

The last Porsche 911 GT2 RS was probably one of the most insane cars Porsche put into production. It was more-or-less a lightweight GT3 RS with with a 620-hp turbo engine. This meant it kept its rear-wheel-drive only setup, and pumped out a crazy 620 horsepower. Being a 911, it kept its engine in the rear, making it a serious handful to drive. And now, they're making another one.

The 2018 GT2 RS is expected to retain the same general setup as the last generation, lightweight, track focused, rear-wheel-drive only, and having an ultra-powerful twin-turbo flat-six. The only thing buyers will have to worry about is whether or not Porsche will decide to make a manual transmission available. Both the current GT3 and GT3 RS are offered exclusively with Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission, and people aren't happy about it. Porsche has even confirmed the next GT3 will get a manual thanks to customer outcry. Since the GT3 RS is going to stay PDK-only, however, we aren't getting our hopes up for the turbocharged car.

On a lighter note, we can pretty much guarantee the car will keep its massive rear wing. Because what Porsche GT car would be complete without a table to eat your breakfast off of before you hit the track?

Youtube channel Racingfun Nordschleife caught the Porsche logging a few laps on on the Nürburgring while the engineers perfect its insanity. Take a look for yourself.
