Oh, the Porsche 912. A car that is appreciated by many, but disregarded by most. It has the body of the classic, beautiful 911, but lacks its signature flat-six cylinder engine. Instead, it made due with a smaller, four cylinder in order to keep the price down. Many people have forgotten about this car, but this owner decided to transform his into the best 912 on the road.
John has his own shop, where he services classic Porsches in California. He bought this 912 when he was 23 years old, and turned it into his dream car throughout many years of ownership. He didn't know everything about Porsches when he got the car, so he learned by making his own parts and asking people with knowledge on the subject. Instead of dropping in a bigger, six-cylinder motor, John chose upgrade every existing piece, helping him disconnect from everything else in the world, to celebrate the driving experience.
The fantastic crew at Petrolicious have whipped up a great film on John, his Porsche, and his fantastic shop. We get to see the story of the 912, as well as the Datsun 240Z that his colleague built for the Peking to Paris Rally. Not to mention the fantastic cinematography that Petrolicious always seems to deliver.
