Today's hybrid LMP1 cars are monsters. With around 900 horsepower and absurd amounts of downforce, the Porsche 919 Hybrid and the Toyota TS050 tackle road courses with speed that has to be seen to be believed. Just watch Le Mans-winner Earl Bamber lap Spa in the #02 Porsche 919 Hybrid for proof.
With no other traffic out on track, Bamber displays incredible pace here during a free practice for today's Spa Six Hours. Just watch how he takes the famous Eau Rouge corner flat out, like he's in a modern F1 car. During this practice session, Bamber's teammate Timo Bernhard set down a 1:56.874 lap.
Porsche's #01 919 qualified on pole for tomorrow's race, with Neel Jaani and Andre Lotterer achieving a combined average lap of 1:54.097. For reference that's around seven seconds slower than Nico Rosberg's quickest laps in qualifying for last year's Belgian F1 Grand Prix. That's amazing pace for a car with full bodywork.
