Yahoo Autos Porsche's Plans for Its EV Future

Mission E Update
Porsche's Mission E Concept is getting closer to production, and now we're learning more about the car's performance and Porsche's plan for an EV future thank to an interview that the company released with Stefan Weckbach, the head of Porsche's electric cars.
First of all, the Mission E won't just be quick, it'll have performance that can be repeated:
Q: One of the US-based manufacturers boasts that its vehicle can manage 0-100 km/h in under three seconds.
A: But only twice – the third attempt will fail. The system is throttled. Porsche drivers won’t need to worry about anything like that happening. The Mission E will offer reproducible performance and a top speed which can be maintained for long periods.
That one manufacturer is, obviously, Tesla. Weckbach also discussed the company's plans for an EV infrastructure, particularly one that can work with Porsche's 800V setup. This should allow the Mission E to get 250 miles of range in just 20 minutes, essentially a coffee and bathroom break at a rest stop.
While the car will work on current chargers like Level 2 and DC Fast, an 800V charger would be the best one to use for the Mission E. According to Porsche's US CEO, Klaus Zellmer, the company has already installed chargers at its experience center in Atlanta and will install more at its center in LA. It also plans to equip all of its dealers with the fast chargers.
Quite the change for a company that was only making two sports cars just 20 years ago.
Vettel Quickest
On the second day of F1 testing, Sebastian Vettel topped the time sheets in his Ferrari. The frigidly cold day actually saw snow during the day. Teams ran various tire compounds, so there isn't much to we can tell from the laptimes, but Honda has been reliable and McLaren hasn't completed many laps yet with its new Renault-powered car.
