Porsche Expands Panamera Lineup with Two New Variants

This week at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche will show off two new variants in its second-generation 2017 Panamera sport sedan range. A new entry-level or base model Panamera will debut along with a long-wheelbase Panamera 4 Executive version. Both will join the lineup that already includes the powerful Panamera 4S and 4 E-Hybrid that will launch in January 2017.

The basic large premium sports sedan comes in rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations and will be equipped with a new turbocharged, 2.9-liter V-6 engine that generates an additional 20 horsepower to produce 330 horsepower when mated with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The RWD variant accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and the top speed is 164 mph, according to Porsche. Pricing with destination charge will be in the $80,000 range.

The long-wheelbase Panamera 4 Executive variants add 5.9 inches for extra rear legroom and will be available with AWD. The long-wheelbase Executive versions will be offered as Panamera 4 Executive (330 horsepower); Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive (462 horsepower); Panamera 4S Executive (440 horsepower); and Panamera Turbo Executive (550 horsepower).

Standard features on the Panamera Executive range include a panorama roof, heated electronically-adjustable front and rear seats, and adaptive air suspension with an electronically controlled damper system. A rear roll-up sunblind also is standard. The Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive add more standard features including rear-axle steering and what Porsche calls soft-close doors. Additionally, the Panamera Turbo Executive offers standard 4-zone climate control, LED headlights featuring Porsche’s Dynamic Light System, and ambient interior lighting.

All 2017 Panamera Executive models will be available with a new optional large rear center console, and the latest generation of Porsche’s rear-entertainment system. Two 10.1-in. display screens in the backrests of the front seats can be detached for more functionality and can convert the back area into a digital workplace or be removed and used as tablets. The Executive variants also can be personalized with an optional Sport Design package.
