The Porsche Taycan EV Is Coming into Clearer Focus
- 1/11
We're getting closer to the official debut of the Porsche Taycan, and these photos and sketches show the new electric sedan in a closer-to-production form. The Taycan was originally previewed by the Mission E concept, and it's now all but confirmed that the final car will have similar styling, as we saw in recent spy photos. Porsche will present the car in full this September, likely at the 2019 Frankfurt auto show, and the company says the Taycan will be on sale by the end of the year.

While the new electric sedan is still covered in camouflage, this does mark the first time Porsche has shown official photos of the non-concept version of the car.

The Mission E concept first introduced the idea of an all-electric Porsche sedan, and based on these images, the Taycan will hew closely to that car's design, with a low nose, a rakish roofline, and a Panamera-esque rear end.

Based on what we know so far about the Taycan, it will offer upward of 600 horsepower from a pair of electric motors, one in the front and one in the rear.

Porsche also promises fast-charging capability thanks to the Taycan's 800-volt electrical system that will supposedly be able to add 250 miles of range in 15 minutes.

The Taycan's sedan body style with a traditional trunk will be the first to debut, but we expect to see two wagon variants appear as well: the standard Sport Turismo wagon and the lifted, crossover-like Cross Turismo.

We can't help but wonder how Kia feels about the Taycan's "Soul, electrified" tagline, given the existence of the Soul EV.
