  • EPA ratings show that the 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo electric car achieves an estimated driving range of 201 miles and gets 69 MPGe combined.

  • As first reported by Jalopnik, Porsche paid a testing agency called AMCI to run its own numbers, which resulted in a "real-world" range of 275 miles.

  • We look forward to testing the Taycan's range ourselves to see what we get.

Porsche's new Taycan electric vehicle is the least efficient EV ever, according to the EPA. Its 69 MPGe combined efficiency figure is low for a modern EV, as is its rated range of 201 miles on a single charge. Even the decades-old GM EV1 was more efficient, rated at a combined 85 MPGe.

As you might guess, Porsche isn't thrilled with the EPA's numbers. It hired testing agency AMCI to conduct its own tests of the Taycan, which resulted in an observed range of 275 miles in combined driving. In Europe's Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Testing Procedure (WLTP) testing, the Taycan Turbo is rated at 280 miles of range.
