New Range Rover Teased Ahead of Next Week’s Debut
Land Rover will reveal next-generation Range Rover on October 23, replacing a model that has been in production since 2012.
The next-gen model is expected to offer a 3.0-liter inline-six in base form, along with a 5.0-liter V8 in the higher-spec trims.
A battery-electric version is one the way, expected to debut around 2024, with Land Rover planning six new EV models in the next five years.
A new generation of the Range Rover is just around the corner, with the automaker slated to reveal the redesigned luxury flagship on October 26 ahead of its arrival next year as a 2022 model. The current generation has been on sale since 2012 with a few updates here and there, so the arrival of the next-gen model will be a major milestone for the automaker, which has faced some challenges in recent years along with sibling brand Jaguar.
The new model, previewed in the teaser image above, suggests that the model has largely settled into a comfortable design and profile with the debut of the last generation, and that the 2022 redesign will be more evolutionary than revolutionary. The biggest design changes on the outside are likely to concern the taillights, which will adopt a much sleeker, vertical profile, in contrast to the traditional rectangular units that the model has featured since its inception half a century ago.
