Bubba Wallace released a statement Monday night following his actions in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with fellow driver Kyle Larson.

Upon seemingly being forced into the wall racing Larson, Wallace’s car came down the track and hooked Larson, putting both cars in the wall. Wallace said in his post-crash interview that the steering did not work after getting into the wall, however Larson did not have the same viewpoint.

After getting out of the car, Wallace walked over to Larson, exchanged a few words, the proceeded to shove Larson repeatedly until a NASCAR official separated the two.

Wallace’s statement read: “My behavior does not align with the core values that are shared by 23XI Racing and our partners…” He went on to say: “I compete with immense passion, and with passion at times comes frustration. Upon reflecting, I should have represented our partners and core team values better than I did by letting my frustrations follow me outside of the car. You live and you learn, and I intend to learn from this.”

NASCAR is reviewing the incident in its entirety between Larson and Wallace. Any potential penalties could come later today.
