Red Bull's second Formula 1 team was once called Scuderia Toro Rosso. For the past four seasons, it raced under the brand's apparel line name Scuderia AlphaTauri. On Wednesday, the team underwent a second rebrand with the same ownership group and will now be known as Visa CashApp RB.

Outside of the major new sponsorship from Visa and CashApp, the name of the team is now just RB. Not Red Bull, not the previously rumored name Racing Bulls, not any other creative adaptation, just RB. The latest name change is confusing, but it makes more sense than the former Alfa Romeo team's recent rebrand to Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.

The name change reflects a new strategy at RB, a team that plans to work more closely with the senior Red Bull Racing program in 2024. After 18 years of leadership from long-time program boss Franz Tost, the new principal, former Ferrari executive Laurent Mekies, began his time leading the team earlier this month. The program hopes a major new technical partnership with the other, more successful team also owned by Red Bull will help the team move up the grid quickly.

Visa CashApp RB plans to field cars for Yuki Tsunoda and returning veteran Daniel Ricciardo in the 2024 F1 season. Liam Lawson, a revelation in his short stint with the team as an injury replacement for Ricciardo, remains the team's reserve driver and looms large as a threat to replace a current Red Bull family driver by the middle of the season. The team's 2024 car and first livery under the RB brand will be revealed on February 8.
