Once an emblem of 1950s luxury, the Lincoln Capri has been transformed into a symbol of sheer racing prowess, thanks to a comprehensive overhaul by John Ward Motorsports of Alpine, Texas. This 1954 two-door hardtop has been reincarnated into a replica of a La Carrera Panamericana racing marvel, reflecting the golden era of the legendary Mexican race.

With its debut in the revived rally version of La Carrera Panamericana in the 2000s, the Capri showcased its mettle in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2011. The vehicle's racing journey also includes an impressive 12th place at the 2008 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing class. Additionally, its performance at the Chihuahua Express rally over multiple years culminated in a triumphant 2014 run, securing first in its class and seventh overall.

Beneath its hood, the Capri houses a roaring 392ci Ford Racing V8, producing a remarkable 430 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is paired with a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission, ensuring both speed and control.

Externally, the Capri's aesthetics merge vintage charm with contemporary race flair. The majority of the body is encased in a patina-inspired wrap that exudes a rustic racing charisma, while sections like the trunk lid and the driver-side quarter panel stand out in a vivid yellow. Complementary racing features, like the fiberglass bumpers, louvered hood, and Lexan windows, contribute to both its performance and distinct appearance.

Wheeling the Capri are Diamond Racing's black-finished 16x8” D-window steel wheels, hugged by Toyo Proxes RA1 competition tires. The vehicle's suspension system boasts state-of-the-art chromoly front control arms and coilover shocks, ensuring smooth navigation across racing terrains.

The interior is a testament to meticulous engineering and safety standards. The race-ready cabin is armored by a welded-in roll cage, fortified with Racetech RT4009HR racing seats, and accompanied by Tilton Engineering's adjustable pedals. The dashboard is a nod to modern technology, equipped with AutoMeter Pro-Comp instrumentation and an MSD 6AL ignition controller, among other features.

Keeping the Capri powered is a 22-gallon JAZ Products fuel cell, working in tandem with dual Holley Blue electric fuel pumps. Ensuring its electrifying performance is a recently replaced Optima battery as of May 2023.
