This 'Ring-Drifting 911 Might Be the Next Carrera GTS

From Road & Track

With the new, turbocharged 911 Carrera and Carrera S in the public's hands, it's only a matter of time before the Carrera GTS arrives. Some video from the Nürburgring has emerged of what is almost assuredly the next Carrera GTS Cabriolet getting delightfully sideways.

As was the case with the last GTS, it looks like Porsche will use the swollen fenders of the all-wheel drive Carrera for the rear-wheel drive version, and there appears to be some subtle styling changes. The engine sounds almost exactly the same as the 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six in the Carrera S, but expect more power from this model. For a ballpark estimate, the last GTS made 30 more horsepower than the Carrera S, so figure at least 460 horsepower for this one.

Traditionally, the GTS has always been the variant of choice for virtually every Porsche: You get more power, and a smorgasbord of standard features that are otherwise optional on lesser trims. If you're thinking of a new 911, we suggest waiting for the one you see testing above, unless you're holding out for a GT3.
