We’re not sure how you were expecting to start your Monday off, but I bet it wasn’t watching something as insanely awesome as this. Robbie Maddison—an Australian extreme sports athlete and all-around badass—strapped some skis on his dirt bike and rode a wave; a freakin’ wave.

It was part of a collaboration with DC Shoes called “Pipe Dream,” and from what we know, it’s the first time anyone has ridden a wave on a dirt bike and lived to tell about it. Of course, they had to do it big, and went to one of the surf capitals of the world—Tahiti—to make it happen. Watch and be amazed:

The stunt took nearly two years of preparation and plenty of mental and physical training to perfect. While on location in Tahiti, it took 17 days to finally nail it, having a few miscalculations and not-so-pleasant crashes in between. At the end of the day, though, it made for one insanely badass video, and one of Maddison’s most extreme stunts to date.

“Riding the wave was the most challenging terrain I’ve ever taken a motorcycle on,” Maddison told GrindTV. “Every time there was a mechanical change in the bike, it changed the way it rode.”

Maddison’s latest dirt bike stunt is just one in a long list of many including a ski jump in Salt Lake Olympic Village to the Arc de Triomphe at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Looks like we might have ourselves a modern day Even Knievel.
