Driving something that resembles a police car is a fun way to spook your fellow drivers and rule the passing lane. This retired highway patrol Fox-body Mustang might be a little too old to trick other drivers into thinking you're a cop, but it's still cool as hell. You should buy it.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

According to the ad on eBay Motors, this 1992 notchback Mustang is a true manual "SSP" car, making it one of the rarest and most desirable production Fox-bodies out there. SSP stands for Special Service Package, a trim built exclusively for law enforcement. Essentially a heavy duty, stripped-out, 5.0-powered notchback coupe, it features equipment not available to the public, like an engine oil cooler, transmission cooler, reinforced floor pans, and upgraded radiator hoses. The SSP's lack of creature comforts make it a desirable base for customizers and tuners. A good example is Road & Track contributor Matt Farah's "IRS" widebody Mustang, which was originally a California Highway Patrol car.

This particular car started its life as a Florida Highway Patrol car, and looks to be in wonderful condition despite its 140,000-mile odometer reading. It benefits from new brakes, replenished A/C, and a recent paint job in the original black and tan livery. In addition to the paint, the front push-bar bumper, spotlight, and original radio equipped are still present.

The ad claims that normal citizens can't legally drive this car in Florida, because the color scheme is still in use by Florida police today. And regardless of where you live, impersonating a police officer is a federal offense in the United States. You'd have to cover up any lights and tape over any "police" or "trooper" insignia before taking this car out on the road, to make it clear to your fellow motorists that you're not an on-duty officer.

Still, we think that drawback is well worth living with to drive one of the coolest Fox-body Mustangs ever built. Find it here on eBay Motors with a Buy It Now price of $19,920 or best offer.
