The Sideways View From the Driver's Seat of a 1000-HP Drifting Nissan 370Z

From Road & Track

A normal Nissan 370Z has a 3.7-liter V6 that makes 332 horsepower. That's enough to make it a fairly quick little sports car even if it hasn't been redesigned since 2009. But when NISMO decided to turn the 370Z into a drift car, out went the V6, and in went a screaming 5.6-liter V8.

And with that V8 engine tuned to produce 1000 horsepower, the resulting 370Z turns into one serious drift machine.

Here, Chris Forsberg and Geoff Stoneback take their V8 370Zs to Road Atlanta for a little tandem drifting. And with the onboard footage showing you what it's like to do so, a few things are clear. First, drifting V8-powered 370Zs looks incredibly awesome. Second, while driving as close as possible to each other is a staple of competitive drifting, it's way more impressive when you're watching from the driver's seat.

Now that takes serious skill.
