While the 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI doesn't get any power upgrades in America, in Europe, nobody is stopping Škoda from selling the Octavia with 242 horsepower. That's exactly how much the Euro Golf GTI makes with the optional performance package, and around 22 more than what Americans will get from the GTI.

That's the good part, at least for those with access to VW's Czech-made cars. The bad part is the Octavia's new front, which can be described as polarizing, at best. Either way, inside, Octavia vRS 245 buyers will get lots of Alcantara and a steering wheel straight out of an Audi, while under the hood, the two liter TSI now produces 273 lb.-ft. from 1600 to 4,300 rpm. That equals to a 0 to 62 mph run in 6.6/6.7 seconds (sedan/wagon), with the six-speed manual remaining as the money-saving option over the seven-speed DSG.

Did I mention that they make a wagon with 242 horsepower? Yeah, Škoda does that.

Also, their sedan is technically a hatchback.
