Have you ever wondered what Tony Soprano would listen to today, driving to his various mobster errands in his 2003 Cadillac Escalade? Instagram account @tonysopranodrivingsongs has ideas. Maybe he’d be listening to chart-topping viral hits like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” or Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”. Maybe he’d enjoy a little Mitski on the way to his therapist’s office. Maybe he’d be a Smiths fan. Or maybe he’d listen to all of the above and more.

Since the account began posting on March 15, it’s posted 308 videos of driving scenes from The Sopranos set to different songs, earning over 93,000 followers. For the first few weeks, the account primarily posted the same clip of Tony driving to Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water”, changing out the song with each additional post. Contrary to the account’s name, not every video features Tony Soprano himself driving. The account has since branched out to a rotating assortment of the show’s driving-centric clips to serve as the visual to a constantly updating playlist of driving songs.

The songs chosen sometimes fit the scene so perfectly that they could be part of the original soundtrack. Other times, the contrast between the track and the visual creates a whole new work of art or acts as a comedic punchline, such as the pairing of Bob Marley’s "Three Little Birds" with the season 5 episode 12 scene of Silvio Dante driving Adriana La Cerva out to the woods. Artists featured on the account include Dr. Dre, Andrea Bocelli, Whitney Houston, Talking Heads, 2Pac, The Cardigans, Kylie Minogue, Tears for Fears—the list goes on. If there’s a great song from the last 60 years that anyone’s ever listened to while coasting along the highway with the windows down, fingers tapping out the rhythm on the steering wheel, it’s a tonysopranodrivingsong.

If you’d like to elevate your morning commute into an experience worthy of one of the best TV series of all time, a playlist of all tonysopranodrivingsongs is available on Spotify.
