The Pininfarina-designed Maserati GranTurismo doesn't look dated, but it's been in production for ten years now. Maserati had big plans to replace it with a smaller sports car, previewed by the lovely Alfieri concept, but that project has been delayed until next decade. In the meantime, Maserati is giving the GranTurismo a tiny facelift for 2018.

You'll have to look closely to notice the changes. The GranTurismo's new grille design is inspired by the Alfieri concept, while new lower front air dams help reduce drag. Maserati also says the GranTurismo gets a redesigned rear bumper, but we don't know what that looks like, since the automaker has only released pictures of the front of the car.

Inside, there's a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the drive mode buttons have been repositioned next to the shifter.

Under the hood, the GranTurismo's Ferrari-built 4.7-liter V8 remains unchanged, as does the ZF six-speed gearbox. In both Sport and MC trim, this engine makes 460 hp - perhaps a little on the low side compared to other cars in this category, but with an exhaust note that always pleases.

So yes. The GranTurismo is old, and this facelift is minor. That said, this is still Maserati's prettiest car on sale. We just hope the next Maserati coupe looks a lot like the Alfieri.
