This Spy Video Might Show the Upcoming Corvette ZR1 in Testing

From Road & Track

When we first got our hands on the C7 Corvette Z06, it impressed us with its incredible power and acceleration. In fact, it was fast enough that it felt like a replacement for both the previous track-oriented Z06 and the top-speed-focused ZR1. But if Chevrolet wants to build a true C7 Corvette ZR1, we aren't going to complain.

Judging by this latest spy video, Chevrolet's doing exactly that, and it looks pretty darn close to production. These purported Corvette ZR1 prototypes were caught leaving a gas station during road testing in Ohio. The cars wear light camouflage, and one of them is sporting a seriously huge wing. As for the sound, well, they actually sound a lot like the Z06.

Interestingly enough, the Corvettes were also accompanied by a 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a 575-hp Jaguar F-Type SVR. Both of those are big-horsepower two-door sports cars with supercharged V8 engines, likely competitors to a theoretical C7 ZR1. Chevy's already got a great supercharged V8 lurking under the hood of, among other things, the 650-hp Camaro ZL1 due out next year; a super-Vette with even more power may not be far behind.
