A New Subaru Impreza Is Coming This MonthSubaru

Ever since the WRX was spun off as its own model in 2014, the Subaru Impreza has disappeared from the car-enthusiast radar. Despite small cars declining in popularity here in North America, Subaru has stuck with the Impreza as its entry-level model and will continue to do so. The company announced Thursday that the 2024 Impreza will debut on November 17 at the L.A. Auto Show.

Interestingly enough, the debut will be hosted by skateboarder-turned-rallycross-driver Bucky Lasek, and his daughter, Paris. Does this imply a new enthusiast focus for Subaru's most affordable model? Probably not, but it is noteworthy. We'll keep hoping for a modern 2.5RS.

The teaser sketch showed that Subaru is sticking with a hatchback body style for the new Impreza. We suspect it'll look a lot like the recently unveiled 2024 Crosstrek, if not identical, minus the body cladding and jacked-up ride height. It will ride on Subaru's Global Platform, which underpins everything the automaker sells, save the BRZ and the Solterra, which uses a Toyota-developed EV platform.
