Subaru Shows Off Levorg STI Wagon Concept in TokyoSubaru

Subaru debuted a new concept based on its Levorg station wagon on Wednesday dubbed the Levorg STI Sport #—yes, hashtag included. It's a one-off prototype built for the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, packing the WRX's turbocharged engine and some sporty looks.

The Levorg STI Sport # is based on the Levorg STI R EX, a sporty trim variant of the Impreza-based station wagon not sold in the United States. The prototype gets that car's turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer-four making 271 horsepower. The Levorg has never been sold with a stick, and this new STI Sport # is no exception, as it gets the same continuously variable found in every other trim.

Subaru hasn't said what sorts of mechanical upgrades the STI Sport # has received, but does promise "enhanced stable handling" and a "premium drive feel." Other than the gunmetal-painted wheels, we don't see many visual differences between this car and the Levorg STI that debuted back in 2020. That means unique front and rear bumpers that remind us a lot of the current WRX.

The Levorg STI Sport # will go into "limited" production, according to Subaru. The company didn't elaborate further in its announcement, though it's safe to assume the few examples that are built won't be coming Stateside. The car is one of seven vehicles Subaru plans to display at its Toyko Auto Salon booth in January, alongside a handful of other concepts and a few race cars.
