The E34-generation BMW M5 has historically been the least sought-after by enthusiasts for several reasons. It wasn't as rare or angular as the first-gen car, nor did it have an outrageous V8 or V10 power plant like the E39 or E60. But BMW did make a Touring version of the E34, cementing it as the first M wagon ever. Less than 1000 examples of the E34 M5 Touring exist, and this dealer is asking seriously absurd money for one.
Enthusiast Auto Group, the same Ohio-based used BMW dealer that brought us this $150,000 E39, is back with another seemingly perfect M5 for sale. What makes this E34 M5 Touring special is - yep, you guessed it - the paint. According to the dealer, this car is one of two Santorin Blue Tourings produced during its short 891-car production run.
This fact, aligned with the car's more desirable body style, larger 3.8-liter straight-six engine, and later six-speed manual transmission, start to explain the exuberant $129,990 asking price. Plus, it's not much more than what that ultra-rare "Elekta" M5 Touring sold for back in April.
But, considering this 24-year-old, 96,000-mile car is about $34,000 more than a brand new Panamera Sport Turismo, we'd have a hard time paying that much. However, for those seeking the most unique M car out there, this is M5 Touring might be the one.
