Yahoo Autos We Sure Won't Run Out of Lamborghini V12s Now
Over a year ago, we learned that there are already more Lamborghini Huracáns out there than all Miuras, Countaches and Diablos combined. Now, the same could be said about Aventadors, with the 8000th example being a Grigio Teloso Aventador S Roadster destined for Japan. Meanwhile, in less than a year, Lamborghini also built another 3000 Huracáns, bringing their total to a whopping 11,000. That means that if they can keep this rate up, the Huracán will beat the Gallardo's ten-year production record of 14,022 in half the time.
Perhaps the most shocking number in the supercar business is that McLaren managed to sell 15,000 of its Ferrari nightmares just seven years after the brand was launched. But Ferrari breaks all sales records with its mid-engined offerings as well, and as it turns out, Lamborghini has no problem at the higher end of the market either, despite selling what is perhaps the least practical production car money can buy.
673 Aventadors got delivered in the first half of 2018, and if you thought the Aventador S Roadster represents the end of the line for this this now seven-year-old V12 supercar, try to guess how fast the new Aventador SVJ coupé can fly around the Nürburgring. The question certainly made Lamborghini wonder, especially knowing how Porsche took away its previous record set with the Huracán Performante.
