It's one way to help.

The recent wildfires in Maui have left a trail of unparalleled destruction, jolting communities and triggering a widespread humanitarian crisis. With over 100 people dead, nearly 1,000 missing, and a staggering 11,000 individuals displaced, the losses are difficult to comprehend. The once-idyllic Lahaina town stands destroyed, and property damage estimates have skyrocketed to $5.5 billion. In the face of such catastrophe, every helping hand counts, and it's heartening to see various communities coming together to provide aid.

Surf Community Rides the Wave of Solidarity

Among those stepping up is Alex Knost, a longboard surfer hailing from Orange County, California, renowned for his panache and style on the waves. Knost has taken to social media to announce a unique fundraising initiative: he’s auctioning off two of his vintage cars, pledging to donate all proceeds to relief efforts in Maui.

The Cars and the Cause

The first of Knost's cars on the block is a 1984 coupe, a classic that requires a bit of tender loving care. The vehicle needs a "couple hundo in repair and a tow," as Knost candidly stated in his social media post. He has set up an open bidding process in the comments section, which will run until the 30th of this month.

The second vehicle up for auction is a Ford Econoline 100, a sturdy van he purchased just a month ago for $2,300. Although it also needs to be towed, Knost assures that the vehicle is solid. Again, the highest bid by the end of the month wins, with the catch being that the new owner will need to arrange for its towing.

A Passion Project for a Greater Good

If you've been considering buying a new vehicle, or if vintage cars are a hobby of yours, this auction offers a remarkable opportunity. Not only do you have a chance to own one of two intriguing vehicles, but you also get to contribute to a noble cause.

Given the horrific toll of the Maui wildfires, every contribution can make a significant impact. In these trying times, gestures like Knost's remind us that community and compassion often light the way even when circumstances look dire.

So, if you're in the market for a new car or just want to support a worthwhile cause, check out Alex Knost’s online auction. It's a win-win situation: you could be the proud new owner of a vintage car, while also playing a part in rebuilding lives devastated by the Maui wildfires.
