It Takes a Special Kind of Crazy to Give the Scion tC 350 Wheel Horsepower

From Road & Track

Turning Scion tCs into race cars isn't entirely unheard of. Tanner Foust, for example, used to drive a Scion tC that made for some seriously entertaining drift videos. But it had also been converted to rear-wheel drive and had about as much in common with the stock car as a Nascar has with a Camry.

Only a crazy person would try to turn a front-wheel-drive tC into a race car, right? Turns out, yes. But it does happen, and the resulting car is even crazier than you might have imagine.

In his latest One Take, Matt Farah drives a stripped-out Scion tC that's making something like 350 horsepower at the wheels. That's more than 400 horsepower at the crank, and all that power is going to the front wheels. Can you say torque steer?

And even for a guy who drives more cars in a year than most people will drive in their lifetimes, the time-attack-prepped Scion tC is still one of the hardest cars to drive that Matt Farah's ever seen. Getting it to go in a straight line is almost impossible, and he actually turns around so he can go find roads without such tight turns.

But you know what? As crazy as a car putting down 350 horsepower at the front wheels is, you have to respect the kind of person who would do such a thing. It's crazy, but it's also so awesome.

We love it.
