There's always that one winding back road you wish you could have all to yourself. Sadly, unless you can convince your local law enforcement officers to shut it down for you, you'll always have to act like a semi-responsible human being when you're out there.

Recently, Volkswagen GRC driver Tanner Foust (of Top Gear USA fame) got the chance to take his Global Rallycross Beetle out for a drive near Portland, Oregon. And with the road closed down, he was able to drive a bit more aggressively than you normally can on public roads. In other words, he ripped it up. And can you blame him?

We'll be the first to admit that, stock, the Volkswagen Beetle isn't exactly our kind of car. But regardless of your opinion of the regular Beetle, you can't deny that Foust's Global Rallycross version is pretty rad. After all, it's powered by a turbocharged four good for 544 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque. When our own Jack Baruth got to drive one, he came away mighty impressed.

Even on a windy mountain road, this thing is ridiculously quick. As Mr. Foust will now demonstrate.
