Tesla Model 3 Will Get Ludicrous Mode

From Road & Track

Elon Musk's stated mission for Tesla is to help push the world towards sustainable energy, but he's also a known speed freak. Tesla offers both the Model S and Model X with a super-quick "Ludicrous Mode," and it'll offer its new Model 3 with it as well. The Model 3 might be the first Tesla for (nearly) everyone, but it seems Musk isn't yet ready to give up on performance.

Musk confirmed the Model 3's Ludicrous Mode availability in a Tweet Friday night, which was then reported on by Tech Insider . Since the Model 3 is still fairly early in its development, it's doubtful specs are finalized, but we reported in March that the Model 3 will do 0-60 in under four seconds.

At the Model 3's March unveiling, Musk confirmed the base version would run from 0-60 in under six seconds. We got a ride in an early all-wheel-drive performance version at that event, and it felt very quick from the back seat. Like the Model S and X, the Ludicrous Model 3 will probably be all-wheel drive to help with quick acceleration.

The Ludicrous Model S and X are by no means sports cars, but their acceleration is very addictive. It's nice to hear that the Model 3 will join in on the fun as well.
