Tesla Model S "Easter Egg" Drops 0-60 Time to 2.4 Seconds
Two weeks ago, Elon Musk, Tesla Motors CEO, teased an upcoming "Easter Egg" for the company's Model S P100D electric sedan. Now, he's revealed exactly what that Easter Egg is: a software update giving the top-of-the-line Tesla even faster acceleration.
In a tweet sent out this afternoon, Musk says the upcoming software update will improve the 0-60 time of the Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode, from 2.5 seconds to just 2.4. Additionally, Musk claims the new calibration lets the sedan run the quarter-mile in a scant 10.6 seconds.
Looks like the Model S P100D Easter egg will allow it to do 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 sec and a 10.6 sec 1/4 mile via software update next month

While Tesla hasn't officially published quarter-mile times in the past, owners taking their personal cars to the strip have seen results in the 10.7-10.8 second range.
Musk added that the Model X P100D with Ludicrous Mode would also get a 0.1-second improvement in 0-60 and quarter mile times thanks to the update.
Model X numbers should also improve by 0.1 sec on 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile

Model S and X owners can expect this update to come over-the-air sometime in December. The quickest new car in the world just keeps getting quicker.
