Yahoo Autos Texas A&M Football legend Mike Evans returns to College Station for The Big Event Kickoff 2023
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, who is no stranger to the Texas A&M faithful, received a warm homecoming as he returned for The Big Event Kickoff 2023.
The Aggies legend, who played wide receiver for the Maroon and White from 2012 to 2013, addressed thousands of attendees as he looked back on his time at A&M while stressing the importance of giving back to the community.
Evans was quick to remember some of the best memories he had while donning the Maroon and White:
“I just miss my time here. I really do. It’s such a special place. All of you know I used to catch passes from a guy named Johnny and those are some of the best times in my life.”
The former wideout also made an emphasis illustrating how the core values he picked up at College Station carried into his life post-college:
“Being an Aggie has taught me so much throughout my life, and it instilled so many core values that you know, I hold today and I try to raise my children on. Ya’ll are off to the right foot, doing things like this, always giving back, paying it forward means a lot.”

Since its introduction in 1982, The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the country. Each spring, tens of thousands of Texas A&M students come together to say “Thank You” and give back to the residents of Bryan and College Station.
A&M may be easily recognized for its athletic achievements over the years, but it’s always great to shed light on the student body that makes being an Aggie so special.
