Yahoo Autos There's an Aston Martin Vanquish With a Factory 6-Speed Conversion For Sale in NY
The first-generation Vanquish stole the hearts of many car enthusiasts after its debut in the early 2000s. It appeared in the James Bond film Die Another Day, solidifying its place in Aston's hall of fame. The only problem was, the Vanquish came with just one choice of transmission: a slow, clunky 6-speed paddle-shift gearbox. Now, Aston Martin offers Vanquish owners the chance to send their cars back to the factory to be converted to an honest-to-goodness six-speed stick. And there's already one example for sale.
This Vanquish, for sale at Autosport Designs in Long Island, was sent to Aston Martin Works in England, where it underwent a full automatic-to-manual transmission conversion. And this isn't some quick swap either-the team at Aston goes to great lengths to make sure the conversion looks factory-spec.
The dashboard had to be completely replaced to get rid of those unnecessary gear selector buttons from the automatic and make room for the gear shifter. A third pedal is also added, and the paddle shifters are removed. From here, it looks like this Vanquish rolled off the line with a 6-speed stick right from the start.
This conversion doesn't come cheap either. Aston Martin doesn't give pricing, but considering the amount of work that goes into the conversion, as well as Autosport Designs' asking price of $135,000, we're sure Aston charges in the tens of thousands to get the job done.
But if the only thing holding you back from buying a Vanquish was that pesky auto, then this three-pedal Aston might be worth the price.
