Tiger Woods has said he is recovering from a serious car crash in Los Angeles and is in “good spirits” after his operations were successful.

Woods, a professional golfer who has won 15 majors, was left with serious injuries including a fractured right leg and shattered ankle after the crash on Tuesday morning.

The golfer, who was in the vehicle alone, had to be cut out of the car after his vehicle collided with a kerb and then a tree before toppling over several times.

Investigators said Woods would have likely died in the crash but managed to survive as his car’s interior stayed mostly unimpaired.

“Tiger and his family want to thank you all for the wonderful support and messages they have received over the past few days. We will not have any further updates at this time,” a statement shared on the golfer’s Twitter account said.
