Tony Stewart Will Race This Weekend at Richmond

From Road & Track

An ATV injury put NASCAR driver Tony Stewart in the hospital earlier this year and relegated to him to the pits for the first eight races of the 2016 Sprint Cup season, his last. Now, there's some good news from Stewart, who announced that he has been cleared to race and will be on track at Richmond this weekend.

While Stewart will race at Richmond this weekend, he only plans on starting at Talladega the following weekend to ensure he gets points. Provided everything goes well at those two races, he'll make his full return at Kansas Speedway next month.

"We're taking a strategic approach to my return," said Stewart in a statement. "Richmond is a track where I feel very comfortable, and because it's a short track, the speeds are substantially less."

Stewart will retire at the end of 2016, following 16 seasons racing in the Sprint Cup.
