Top 5 Bike-uriosities - Week of December 26 2016

At Bike-urious, we’re spending all of our time finding the most interesting motorcycles that are currently for sale for you to drool over (and maybe empty your wallet for).

1. Factory Streetfighter Kit – 2001 Aprilia Falco

The Aprilia Falco (also known as the SL1000) was a roadster that slotted in between the race-replica Mille and the sport-touring Futura. I thought it was slightly confusing - unlike the Tuono, it wasn't much more comfortable than Aprilia's sport bike at the time. To make the Falco stand out a bit more, Aprilia offered a limited edition "Streetfighter" kit for $2,000. The kit includes a new front subframe and fairing, fenders, handlebar, ECU, mirrors, adjustable steering damper, and more. Just 60 of the kits were brought into the United States.

To me, the Falco Streetfighter is a beta Tuono. But this is much rarer, and arguably cooler because of the rarity. For more on the Streetfighter kit and how it's the perfect bike for hooligans, check out this article from Motorcycle-USA.

This example has less than 8,000 miles and it's said to be in great all-around condition. Find this Falco Streetfighter for sale in Huntington Beach, California for $4,500 here on Craigslist.

2. 1982 Honda CBX

When Honda originally released the CBX, it was a hell of a naked sportbike (and the fastest production motorcycle available). By the end of the model run, it had evolved (or devolved, depending on your perspective) into a faired sport-tourer.

The CBX could dispatch the quarter mile in 11.36 seconds, crossing the line at 117.95 miles per hour. Top speed was about 140 miles per hour thanks to the 103-horsepower inline 6 engine. For more on the CBX, check out this article on Motorcycle Classics. This example (VIN: JH2SC0603CC401043) has just 4,725 miles on the odometer, and the cosmetics look great. The seller doesn't include much in terms of detail, so you'll have to rely a bit too much on the photos.

Find this CBX tourer for sale in Mesa, Arizona, with bidding up to $7,500 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.

3. Erzberg Edition – 2009 KTM 950 Super Enduro

KTM's 950 Super Enduro was already one of the most impressive big dual sports ever built, but the Austrian firm decided to make something a little bit fancier with the limited edition Erzberg Edition. Hard Enduro fans will know that this bike is named after the legendary Erzbergrodeo, one of the world's most difficult enduro races.

Producing 98 horsepower and with giant suspension travel, this bike is very capable. KTM produced just 100 examples of the Erzberg Edition, where they took the Super Enduro and added roost guards, Akrapovic exhaust, and some cosmetic pieces (including the graphics kit).

This example (VIN: VBKVE44069M949873) has 12,569 miles and it's claimed to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It has a JD jet kit and some recent replacement of wear items: a new battery, rear tire, and fresh oil. The sale includes the original manual and tool kit, as well as a bike cover, extra oil, and extra air filters. Find this Erzberg Edition Super Enduro for sale in Windermere, Florida, with an unmet opening bid of $8,500 here on eBay.

4. 1 of 25 – 2015 Ural Dark Force

As if there weren't enough Star Wars licensed products in the world, Ural worked out a deal with Darth Vader to produce a blacked out sidecar rig. Admittedly, besides the paint there isn't much different between the Dark Force and one of their regular sidecars, but...this has a lightsaber! Is it worth extra because of that? Not really, which is why this bike has been sitting at a dealership for over a year. But if you're a big Star Wars nut and want something different (and rare - the United States got just 25 models), this is an oddball option.

Original MSRP for the Dark Force was $14,999 (plus $975 assembly/setup fee and $595 crate delivery to dealership fee), so this bike is currently on offer for about $2,500 off. Again, mechanically this bike is just like any other of Ural's rigs - so you get the 41 horsepower, 750cc twin. The lightsaber is mounted to the sidecar and extends out to three feet. For more on the Dark Force, check out this profile on Motorcycle-USA.

This example (VIN: X8JMH0379FU225756) has 36 miles on the odometer and it looks like it's just a leftover from last year. There shouldn't be any issues with it, so find this Dark Force for sale in Boxborough, Massachusetts, with a BIN of $13,969 or best offer here on eBay.

5. Widowmaker 7 - 1971 EJ Potter Chevrolet V8 "Widowmaker" Drag Bike

Bonhams is hosting a big auction next month in Vegas with over 300 motorcycles up for sale. Here's one of my favorites. In 1973, the Guinness World Book of Records named this the World's Fastest Motorcycle. It features a 500 horsepower, Chevy 350 with aluminum heads, gear driven cam, and fuel injection. It ran the quarter mile at 8.68 at 172 miles per hour! Nearly four years ago, this bike went up for sale on eBay and it did not meet reserve at $35,100. Bonhams estimates that this will sell between $65,000 - $85,000.

Which was your favorite?
