For 30 years, the J.D. Power Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) has served as a benchmark study of owner satisfaction with new-vehicle quality. The study measures design- and defect-related problems as reported by new-vehicle owners during the first 90 days of ownership, and the 2016 U.S. IQS is based on more than 80,000 survey responses.

Power Circle Ratings (PCRs), derived from the research, are visual summarizations of the study’s findings that are designed to help consumers when they shop for a new vehicle. Contained in this buyer’s guide, the top-rated 2016 luxury SUVs earned a Power Circle Rating of 5 out of a possible 5 for initial quality in the latest IQS.
