The drivers of some legendary Nineties race cars at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed did not have a very good Sunday.

Videos show a 1996 McLaren F1 GTR and the Le Mans-winning 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 losing control and sliding into the hay bale barriers in two separate incidents on Sunday, causing some minor (but expensive-looking) damage in the process.

The Team Lark-branded F1, driven in-period by Naoki Hattori and Ralf Schumacher in the Japanese Grand Touring Championship, was piloted by Jesús Gijón at the time of the incident. He lost control on his entrance to the always drama-filled Malcolm corner, kissing the hay and dislodging the front clamshell, and knocking the right-side mirror. Thankfully, Gijón was able to drive the car away, so we assume the damage isn't too catastrophic.
