  • Ford's Maverick Tremor is available only on all-wheel-drive XLT and Lariat models.

  • The Tremor package will tack on $2995 to the Maverick's price, with the optional appearance package adding another $1495.

  • The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor's big draw is a one-inch lift, which should make the truck slightly more capable off road.

Ford moved away from compact trucks when its beloved Ranger grew up and became a midsize truck. Though, after a few years out of the compact truck space, Ford returned with the hot-selling Maverick. Despite a rough time getting enough Mavericks to feed customer demand, Ford has still managed to move just over 51,500 units, according to Wards data. Looking to add fuel to those sales, the folks at Ford are rolling out a Maverick Tremor to help sway off-road enthusiasts on the fence to plop down the money for a Maverick.

The Ford Maverick Tremor falls in line with what you’d expected if you're familiar with the other Ford Tremor products. It’s limited to just the XLT and Lariat models that use the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. This Maverick Tremor gets some appearance enhancements, such as an available graphics package, orange tow hooks and other minor visual changes from the standard Mavericks. The Tremor also sits an inch higher than the XLT and Lariat rigs thanks to the Tremor’s one-inch lift. This additional height won’t turn the Maverick into a rock crawler's dream rig, but it gives adventure enthusiasts some extra clearance.

This tiered Tremor package isn’t a huge financial burden, either. The base Tremor tacks on an extra $2995 to the all-wheel-drive Maverick XLT’s $27,510 price tag. That means the most affordable Maverick Tremor will set you back $30,505 before any extra options or fees hit the window sticker. If you want to add on the optional appearance package, that will cost another $1495. Of course, the packages cost the same when added to a Maverick Lariat.

It’s hard to say how much demand exists for the Maverick Tremor, but there’s no shortage of demand for Mavericks in general. Heading to the Ford build and price webpage makes that clear, and Ford lets you know that not all of the Maverick’s options are available due to supply constraints. It will also be interesting to see if the Tremor package has any sway in the nearly 50-50 split between the hybrid powertrain and the Tremor’s mandatory 2.0-liter EcoBoost.

For that answer, we’ll have to wait until the 2023 Ford Maverick hits production this fall. Ford says you’ll be able to start ordering these Tremor packages in September.
