TurnPoint Smart Glove Uses LED to Display GPS Turns

As a rider, Steven Friedlander enjoyed the advantages of GPS, but not the distraction of looking at a small screen while riding. So he devised the TurnPoint Smart Glove, using a Bluetooth connected indicator that displays GPS turns from a smartphone. The company, Lab Brothers LLC, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund production.

According to a company spokesperson, "This device uses super bright LEDs to notify you at the right time about distance to turns, when you are at turns and which direction to ride.” The system requires no modifications to the motorcycle. "Having this battery powered device mounted on the back of a glove, you can see the LEDs without distracting you from watching the road."

TurnPoint will also offer fingertip controls to allow rider interaction without removing his or her hands from the handlebars. By simply touching the thumb and index finger together, riders can quickly check the distance to their next turn, and which direction they will be going. The TurnPoint also features a rechargeable battery that will last about eight hours, making it ideal for long road trips on unfamiliar highways. The TurnPoint package will include the left glove that will hook to the TurnPoint Bluetooth device, and a right matching standard glove that does not include the electronics.
