TVR. The quintessentially British car company hardly anybody believes can return from the dead. Except for those 400+ people who already put down their deposits for the new car, or course. Due to them and the fact that TVR will only make 500 Launch Edition cars, the company will soon stop taking orders until the official reveal at the Goodwood Revival in September. Pop that champagne!

TVR boss Les Edgar wanted to debut the car at last year's Festival of Speed, but that didn't work out for various reasons. Setting up Gordon Murray's iStream production facility wasn't a walk in the park, and once the company decided to work with carbon fiber instead of regular composites, the original plan went out of the window.

What hasn't changed though are the numbers. Eight cylinders with a capacity of 5 liters in V-configuration with dry sump lubrication from Cosworth, producing 400bhp per ton in a 2645 lb. two-seater. A six-speed manual gearbox, sidepipes and minimal driving aids, all with an off button. TVR also promises a top speed of 200mph and 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds. It'll be all carbon fiber (did we mention that already?) and will start just under £90,000 ($115K), suggesting that the standard composite version will offer even better value for money. In Europe, that is. US sales are much further down the line, with Edgar suggesting that TVR's upcoming 2+2 may be the right tool for the overseas job.

To celebrate the brand's 70th anniversary, TVR will also have a whole fleet of historic models surrounding the newcomer, making sure to keep the Goodwood Revival as loud as it should be.

Did we mention the sidepipes? Well, those are attached to this chassis and powertrain sandwich:
