U.S. Trophy Team Wins ISDE

For the first time in its 91-year history, the U. S. Trophy Team took the overall victory in the International Six Days Enduro, held in Navarra, Spain. Taylor Robert won the top individual trophy, while he and teammates Kailub Russel, Thad DuVall and Layne Michael were the number one team overall.

“We finally got it done,” said Team Manager Antii Kallonen. “All of our World Trophy Team guys did exactly as we had hoped.” Second place went to Great Britain and the Czech Republic team was third. The U.S. team was consistent, topping the results sheet every day.

Thad DuVall rode a Husqvarna TE 300, making his ISDE debut on a two-stroke. Taylor and Russell were both aboard the KTM 350 XC-F. U.S. Veteran Fred Hoess won the new Vintage class on a 1986 Husky 250 WR, just to rub a litle salt in the wound.

The U. S. Junior Trophy Team of Trevor Bollinger and brothers Steward and Grant Baylor made the podium as well, finishing second on 45 seconds behind the winning Swedish team. The U.S. Women’s World Trophy Team got fourth, the class win going to Australia for the fourth year running.

The U.S. victory is being celebrated throughout the enduro community in the States, with a special nod to John Penton and his family, who really got the ISDE wheels turning for Team USA some 50 years. Congratulations to them all.
