An Ultra Rare Carrera GT Zagato Is Up For GrabsCarhuna

With only some 1270 examples produced, the Porsche Carrera GT is a high mark for any serious collection. For those who need the rarest and most exclusive vehicles in their garage however, a car with a four-digit production run just won’t do. Luckily for those well-heeled few, Carhuna is currently offering up a one-of-five Porsche Carrera GT Zagato.

While not as tied to the coachbuilder as other brands, Porsche and Zagato have history dating back to the 356. Porsche driver Claude Storez approached Zagato in 1957 in search of a new body for his race-ready 356 Speedster. A total of 18 Zagato-bodied Porsches would be built during the era, all of which have serious collector appeal to this day. This particular car has had a much shorter life as a Zagato product, only undergoing the conversion process back in 2019. As the story goes, a Swiss Porsche collector approached Zagato in 2013 with the hope of rebodying their CGT. More specifically, the owner was not very fond of Porsche’s design choices on the rear haunches and deck, and wanted a more traditional GT appearance. Zagato would ultimately massage most of the car’s panels, carefully but thoughtfully changing the appearance.

Up front you’ll notice a reworked bumper, which is longer and provides more ground clearance. The doors and front arches remain stock, but things get very different around back. This Zagato-bodied car carries a C-pillar behind the driver, which helps lengthen the cabin visually. The rear deck lid is also brand new, with the NACA ducts of the original no longer in place. Zagato instead utilizes a new piece of glass to channel air into the 5.7-liter V-10. This shape is much more akin to what you’d find on a traditional mid-engined sports car, and is a real departure from the original design. Zagato also installed a custom exhaust that brings a bit more noise. This particular build was completed across 2018 and 2019, and is #4 of five production units. It is also the only example to receive the full Zagato interior conversion package, which brings a new transmission tunnel, center console, shifter boot, and door cards among other tweaks. The conversion is said to have cost around €400,000 in 2019, with the interior package incurring more charges on top.
