The McLaren 720S might be a road car by definition, but it looks very much at home on Italy's Vallelunga Circuit. That's because it's got all sorts of clever aerodynamic tricks giving it real downforce and tons of grip, in addition to its 720 horsepower.

In the hands of France's Motorsport Magazine, the 720S looks incredibly composed, which is quite astonishing for a rear-wheel drive car with, again, 720 horsepower. The 720S demolishes the track, but it does so with a quiet competence.

The 720S doesn't have the shouty intensity of the 675LT or the P1, and yet, it's clearly not far off their pace. The engine note is also more subdued than those other McLarens, as well as rivals like the Ferrari 488 GTB.

While you're watching, pay attention to the 720S's ultra-cool minimalist gauge cluster, which folds down when you're in track mode, giving you a better view of the circuit.

Of course, if the 720S doesn't seem crazy or track-focused enough for you, good news. McLaren is already working on a hardcore LT version.
