What do you do when your Cayman track toy blows its flat-six on its first outing? Well, you look at replacement engines by Porsche, only to realize that it makes way more financial sense to create something truly unique and way more powerful using Ford's Coyote V8. That's right!

Built for a private customer by Limitless Motorworks in Florida, the V8 Cayman packs Ford's $14,000 all-aluminum crate engine that sends 424 horsepower and 364 ft.-lb. to the rear wheels. The disadvantage of having a higher center of gravity than with a flat-six is minimized by an upgraded suspension, while the gearbox remains the stock Porsche six-speed. Limitless threw in the electric power steering from a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 race car, and their masterpiece was done.

Cons? Well, apart from the price, there's also less legroom and more heat in the cabin, although you get to keep air conditioning. It's also very loud for a daily driver, but it rides well enough to work as such if you're one of those guys. Needless to say that at 3050 lbs. wet, it's stupid, stupid fast...

Since Porsche won't build a V8 911, we either call RUF or improvise with a second hand Cayman.
