This V8-Swapped Porsche Won't Have Any of the 996's Engine Issues

From Road & Track

The Porsche 996 has pretty much always been the cheapest generation of the 911 on the used market, and for good reason. Many people dislike the controversial "fried egg" headlight design, and its engine had the habit of grenading itself with little to no warning. But if you can get passed the looks, this LS3-swapped 996 for sale might just be the car for you.

According to the seller, the original 3.4-liter flat-six engine was having some "problems," so they thought it a good idea to purchase a brand new 6.3-liter LS3 V8 crate motor, and cram it in the engine compartment. Good for about 430-horsepower, the big eight-cylinder engine is also currently used in the tire-smoking Chevy SS sedan.

Additionally, the seller resprayed the car in a different shade of yellow, popped on a set of HRE wheels, and threw in a beefy clutch to handle all that extra grunt.

The car is currently sitting on eBay, yet to meet reserve with six days remaining. If you're willing to get over the welded sunroof and lack of A/C, now's your chance to make every Porsche purist cringe.
