Victory Releases 360-Degree Videos of Pikes Peak Attempts

Victory Motorcycle has released two videos offering a unique 360-degree glimpse of the brand’s recent Pikes Peak attempts.

Last month, Victory racked up two first-place finishes in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, with its gas powered Project 156 and electric Empulse RR bikes both winning their respective categories.

In a battle the brand dubbed “Thunder vs. Lightning,” the electric motorcycle -- piloted by Cycle World editor Don Canet -- ended up with the better time of the two. The Empulse RR also came second amongst all motorcycles participating at the event.

The two videos released Tuesday offer the viewer a chance to change the angle of the camera at will. So, you can watch the road that Canet and Project 156 rider Jeremy Toye are tackling, or you can turn things around and watch the riders as they respond to the landscape.

We find the video of Canet on the relatively silent Empulse RR to be the most interesting. Primarily all the viewer hears is wind noise, making the views of the open sky that expands just off the road feel even more stomach-churning.

That’s not to say, however, that the snarling, beast-like noise of the Project 156 bike is anything other than a joy to listen to.
